What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is Spirit.

John 3:6

« … in truth, in truth, I tell you, if a man is not born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3. »

The new birth is a change of state (transition from darkness to light, from death to life) that occurs on the day the Lord Jesus is accepted as his personal savior. Thus, just as a man to belong to a family must be born there, he who wants to belong to the family of God must also be born of the Spirit (John 1:12-13). It is often illustrated by the image of a caterpillar that becomes a pretty butterfly. This is also called conversion to Christ.

From this day on, the Spirit of God testifies to our spirit that we are children of God (Roman 8:16). At the new birth, the Christian is forgiven for all his sins and is saved. He then finds himself on the path of heaven, which passes through the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23:4).
